What this site is, the risk involved, and how our broker links work.

What this site is

Laguna Basics publishes educational material and free calculators about gold trading. Using the site means accepting what is on this page.

Nothing here is financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and nothing here is an offer to buy or sell any instrument.

Links to brokers

Some outbound links are affiliate links and may earn us a commission. Your relationship, once you register, is with the broker and under the broker's terms — not ours.

We are not responsible for a broker's conduct, platform, or decisions about your account.

Accuracy and risk

Trading gold as a CFD carries a high risk of losing money, and leverage increases both profit and loss. Most retail accounts lose money. Never trade money you need.

We check our figures and date them, but we do not warrant that every number is current. Verify conditions with your broker before you act on anything you read here.

FAQ

Common questions

What exactly is Laguna Basics?

Laguna Basics is an editorial site about gold (XAU/USD) written for readers in the Philippines. It is not a broker, a dealer, a fund or a licensed adviser, and it does not hold client funds or place orders. Everything here is explanation and arithmetic, offered so you can check a calculation yourself.

Is trading gold through this site, and who carries the risk?

No trading happens here. If you trade XAU/USD with a broker, the risk is yours: leverage magnifies both gains and losses, a 0.10-lot position moves in steps of 0.01 per pip across 100 oz, and you can lose more than you expect. Nothing on this site is a guarantee of any outcome.

Is FxPro regulated for Philippine residents?

FxPro is licensed by the FCA (UK) and CySEC - not by the SEC of the Philippines. That means the entity serving this country sits under those overseas regulators, and local Philippine recourse is limited. Check which entity your account is opened with before you fund it through GCash or bank transfer.

Does the site promise that its figures match live market prices?

No. Figures such as the reference price near 4275.0 are illustrations for working through the calculators, not live quotes. Actual prices, spreads and costs depend on the broker and the moment you trade, and we do not publish them as numbers. Always confirm current terms on the broker's own platform.

Can the terms or the content change without notice?

Yes. Pages, calculators and these terms can be updated as facts change, and corrections are handled through the corrections process. Continuing to use the site means you accept the current version. If a change affects a figure you relied on, it is noted rather than quietly removed.
